You might be a “Southie” if...

I like cilantro, but I especially like saying it, sounds quite exotic.

What’s a pasty? 🤔

The Runza® Sandwich features fresh-baked bread stuffed with ground beef, onions, our secret blend of spices, and yes, cabbage." -Runza
Anyways, is this what a pasty is like?
Cabbage? Spices? :sick I think not

A Pasty (pronounced past-ee, not paste-ee, just so that no-one embarrasses themselves if they are lucky enough to come up north) is not just a food, but a piece of history. They are a hearty folded over meat pie, probably originating with Cornish miners who came over to work in the copper mines here in the upper peninsula.

Another northern delicacy is a savory meat pie, ideally made with a mixture of ground beef and venison in a pastry crust. They originated with the French settlers in the area, and there are many French local family names. My boyfriend's mom makes the best tasting meat pie I've ever had, I keep my fingers crossed that before she moves on from this plane she will show me how she does it.

Another food opinion poll:
who likes, and who hates cilantro? I love it. I am guessing there are no in betweens....
View attachment 2117647But I have no idea if it's a north or south thing.
I love cilantro, I grow it and use it in all sorts of different ethnic foods....Indian, Mexican, and Cuban recipes. I could probably eat Cuban food every day of the week. I’m not Cuban...just love the food! Is that a Soutie thing, or is it just me? Maybe it’s a Caribbean thing...cuz I love that too even though I’m not from there either! I guess I’m a waaayyy down southie!

Good to know the correct pronunciation so I don’t make a fool of myself! Plus, I won’t think of “pasty butt” now whenever I think of it!
