Look what crawled into our yard! We are uphill 300' from the stream, but it has been raining a LOT.
I call it crayfish, DH, who grew up here, calls them crawdads...what do all of you call them?

@SueT I call them crawdad, here’s the map of where folks say what. Look at first quote, the pic where I’m talking about crawdad. Also why does everyone say crayfish? you from the north?

I love that area. Mines, caves, Town of Deadwood, Lead. I was there and saw Deadwood as a pioneer town, way before any casinos were built, ( I miss the Black Hills! )
My mom was born there (Lead/Deadwood) and lived in Central City as a child. Grandpa worked in the mine until they went off to Coeur d'Alene to work in the ship yards during the War. The casinos are boring and gauche, imo, but Deadwood would be dead without them--so I'm told. Not sure it was worth it.
