@SueT I call them crawdad, here’s the map of where folks say what. Look at first quote, the pic where I’m talking about crawdad. Also why does everyone say crayfish? you from the north?Look what crawled into our yard! We are uphill 300' from the stream, but it has been raining a LOT.
I call it crayfish, DH, who grew up here, calls them crawdads...what do all of you call them?

I'm not from The North as defined by Ralphie....@SueT I call them crawdad, here’s the map of where folks say what. Look at first quote, the pic where I’m talking about crawdad. Also why does everyone say crayfish? you from the north?
I don't think many of us are.I'm not from The North as defined by Ralphie....
I consider anything north of Iowa and Indiana North. Where are you from on the different word map, not when’re you live, where you were from.I'm not from The North as defined by Ralphie....
I knew there had to be a trick to it!They need to be in clean fresh water for at least a week to 'clean' them out...if not they will taste like mud.
My mom was born there (Lead/Deadwood) and lived in Central City as a child. Grandpa worked in the mine until they went off to Coeur d'Alene to work in the ship yards during the War. The casinos are boring and gauche, imo, but Deadwood would be dead without them--so I'm told. Not sure it was worth it.I love that area. Mines, caves, Town of Deadwood, Lead. I was there and saw Deadwood as a pioneer town, way before any casinos were built, ( I miss the Black Hills! )
