Mine never did understand the need for critters ... and refused to assist with their maintenance and upkeep. Y'know, I don't even miss him! :D

:lau:lau:lau (mumbling: Buncha stand-up comedians we have around here...) (loudly:) Truth, Sister! Preach it!

We just moved this past June. Sold our suburban townhouse in the city and bought an acreage. I am so excited for this Spring and Summer. I was here last summer but back and forth for work (4 hours away) so I didn’t touch the yard. I have one mix girl plus a little boy and girl silkie pair. We didn’t finish the coop so that is first on the list. I am adding to my flock with a Golden Sebright and a bantam Black Wyandotte. I want to get another standard size for my mix girl so she has a buddy. We decided to build our coop right in our vegetable garden so when I am up there gardening I can let them out for some foraging. Our grapevines also run right in front of the coop so I will train some of the vines to grow over top of the coop for summer shade and snacking. I can’t wait!

There's alot of plans ahead! It'll be interesting to see how many have come to fruition this time next year and how many unplanned chickens may happen! I need to replace two of my smaller coops to make just one large coop that I can walk in and clean without being on my knees! The roof is starting to leak in one corner and the back is starting to rot out :( I keep repairing it but I may as well put all the effort into a new coop. This was on this years to do but I built another pigeon loft with the shed I was going to use  Also I want to breed more of my Archangel pigeons. I want some good exhibition quality birds so I can start showing. I'm also undecided whether or not to sell all the garden fantail pigeons I have and replace with Indian fantails. So much to do, plan and decide!

Making your smaller coops one big one sounds like a plan! I don't know how many times I've gotten a bad back from working in my little growers coop. Mines only used for a few months each year so it's not urgent for me to change mine but if your using yours all the time it's worth changing it.

Showing pigeons looks pretty fun so I hope you get some nice birds to do so :)

Our laying hen flock have their own plans...they're busy unboxing their new 55inch tv to go in their coop :gig

Meanwhile our little Booted Bantam is challenging the garden cat ornament...
