I'm off of Hwy 94. It was the Big R hay barn where I get my horse hay. At 6:30 this evening they were still working on putting it out. Glad you're not in danger.

I don't have silkies, but a variety of barred rock, cochins, and mixes (and a pair of turkeys and ducks) and they all share the coop with a roost made from a pallet. Some on top, some in the middle and some on the bottom. They go where they fit, including the nesting boxes and the chick pen...

Margie, have you tried Craigslist for your rabbit search? I have Satins, New Zealand Reds and Florida Whites, all having been found on that site.

The one in Peyton usually sells the white Pekin; the cute fuzzy yellow ducklings.

At least 6 years. His spurs were over 3 inches long. He protected his hens like he was a yearling.

Lost my old rooster this afternoon. He was fine this morning, but I found him just before "bed check". No blood, no sign of struggles, considering I adopted a young roo this past summer that turned out to be the spittin' image of him. They got along well. Still, kinda sad. At least it was a nice...

Thanks, marlo. I also added dumplings to mine and it was awesome. I'm really sensitive to certain food textures and this 6 mo old cochin rooster made me pause, so I had to make sure I was doing everything right. Unfortunately my husband is a major procrastinator. So getting him to butcher the...

Awesome! Thanks wsmith. I think I had the bird cooking on medium in the crock pot. And no, I didn't let it rest before freezing. All these years I never knew this. I was afraid to butcher after the hens stopped laying for fear of having chicken jerky. Unfortunately the extra roosters ended up...

I have a question for you all. I put one of my freezer birds in the crock pot this weekend. The meat was a little dense and I was wondering if I've gotten too used to the soft, prepackaged birds from the market. In the past I waited too long to butcher and knew the meat would be a little tough...

Hey guys, I'm probably still considered a newbie, as far as past posters go. Only posted twice, maybe three times? With wsmith, who's postings have changed my want of Barred Rocks to Doms. I keep up with you all every night, constantly learning (and laughing) but you're all so into your flocks...

Is there anyone who'd be interested in an 8 month old Cochin rooster? I have 4; a gorgeous two-toned gray, a white one, and two funky-looking frizzles, who had to be thrown in with the pig because of the havoc they caused in the coop. I can't put them in the freezer because there's no meat on...

I love my Narragansetts too. These are the gentlest birds I've ever been around, not to mention beautiful. I can even pick them up and they cuddle in my arms.

Good morning Colorado! Anyone out there have a Narragansett hen they would like to sell, or possibly trade for a Narragansett tom? He's about 2 years old and a very gentle bird. I'm looking for a hen about a year old as a mate for my other tom.
