We just had a freak accident. One of my broody d'Anver hen's chicks somehow got tangled in her feathers. She was dragging the little thing as she moved. We got hold of her and took scissors to the feathers trapping the chick but by the time we got it loose it was dead. She has 3 others and...
I've got 2 Easter chicks, a self blue and a quail hatched so far. They weren't due until tomorrow so I expect the other 5 or so will come along in due time.

Here's a photo of the Best of Variety quail at the Friendship Poultry show this past Saturday. Best of breed was a lovely self blue pullet. I wish I'd gotten more photos of the d'Anvers at that show - there were quail, blue quail, black, self blue, and mille fleur.
