Forgot to post a pic of the new baby. 4 & 1/2 month our Ameraucana. Her name is Hollandaise, but we call her Holly. She's not real sure about things yet. Sweet as pie - loves to be held, but nervous still around the other hens.

We lost our first chicken today. She was murdered by the dogs. They have always been interested in her alone...poor baby. Rest in peace Hope.

Hope finally laid her first egg! Today is already a 3 out of 5 day & one is mounting so we may or may not get one from her. She has laid a few since starting to mount though. Maybe we will actually start getting 5 out of 5 soon???

We've ha such nice weather up until this past weekend. Yuck. It was windy and chilly. Still chilly. Ready for nicer days! A couple if weeks ago we hit 90 for goodness sake!!

We are getting 3 a day pretty consistently now. I'll be happy when all 5 are laying daily!! Went home at lunch at the girl got a snack of bread, raisins, and celery. One blue-green egg in the box. My BR's tend to lay a little later than what I am able to get home for lunch. Lucy is laying...

Today's eggs

My Tori is crazy. She's been laying in the nesting box without a problem - until yesterday. Apparently. She laid 1 egg in the 30 pound hanging feeder yesterday and I found in there today after laying a 2nd. The big girls must have been in the nesting boxes when she decided it was time...

Mi Mine HATED the dummy eggs. They kicked them out of the boxes into the coop. We put them back. They kicked them out of the boxes, down the ramp, and out to the furthest possible corner of the ramp. Crazy girls.

These are from our 18 month olds. The small one is from the one that is moulting. Our blue ones are about the size of the small brown one - they are laid by our almost 6 month olds.

Our first 2 egg day! First Naughty Margaret laid one in chicken jail, then Tori laid hers in the nesting box!! Whoo Hoo!! She's the first to figure that out!! That's 5 eggs since Tuesday for our flock! Yeah!!

We got our third egg today. Pretty sure it wa Annabelle. Tori is still talking her head off & squatting. Hope is squatting and panting an cooing but no egg yet. We got 2 18-month old Barred Rock hens today. So far one is being a little mean to the others...here's hoping they end up mixing...

Tori laid her egg...right outside the nesting box...and someone stepped on it. Not sure which hen it was (may even have been her!)
