Well done! A great review for keeping your flock happy and healthy through winters.... Nice bonus to include the recipe for home made flock block! Homemade treat dispenser (aka recycled plastic bottles), repurposed suet cages and providing dust bath areas go a long way to keep chickens active and stimulated when the ground is covered in snow and ice. I like to add some thick branches or tree stump in the run to provide additional ‘entertainment’.

Love that the coop can be moved inside a garage or structure easily for severe weather. Will have to bookmark this in case I need another coop!

Enrichment of poultry environment is very beneficial, same as for any confined beings. Whether you have to use a run part or full time for your flock, using some of the suggestions in this article will provide entertainment for chickens as well as encourage natural behaviors and minimize issues like feather picking. Most of it can be done with no or little expense. No need to peel apples for chickens though unless you you want to go the extra mile

nice article, well written. I have added a single adult hen to an established flock in a similar fashion. See but no touch after quarantine, adding chicken to the roost when it’s dark and mingling with the flock under supervision works ( at least for me) well. Few scuffles but no war, takes a little time but well worth it!
