    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I have a Welsummer Roo free if anyone is interested. He is a good bird. Little rough with the hens sometimes. We have bantams now and he is pretty mean to them. Otherwise good behavior. Salem, IN.

His comb looks better today. I think I am just going to keep an eye on it and hands off unless it starts to look worse. Thanks for all the advice!

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

So discouraged! We have had pretty cold weather for the last 2 weeks or so and snow on the ground for the majority of it. My welsummers and blue Andalusian had some black spots on their combs. I bought some bag balm, as someone had recommended, and used it. This morning one of my boy's...

    Frostbite

What temperature put chickens at risk for frostbite?

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I don't think the Welsummers were sold to me dishonestly although I am surprised that they got it wrong. The RIRs are another story. My husband got them at a chicken swap and I'm pretty sure he was misinformed. My guess is they were straight run and they wanted to get rid of them.

Well,my two welsummer "pullets" I bought at 2 months old are crowing in the backyard. And I'm pretty sure 2 of the 4 RIR "pullets" will be joining them.

We got our third egg today! Nine days between the first two. Only three days Since the last one. Maybe we will still get a daily egg before the weather changes!

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I brought my first chicks home this April and now have 3 girls who are around 5 months old. One of them, I think the Andalusian has laid 2 eggs. The first was on Sept 7 and the second was Sept 16. Is that pretty normal for when they first start laying? She laid both in the same spot and...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hi everyone! I have this gorgeous roo (either an Andalusian or Minorca, not sure) that needs a new home. He has recently hit what I call "chicken puberty." My husband didn't want a roo to begin with but I brought him home anyway. He has started chasing my daughters (4 and 6) and they are...

5-6 month old rooster in need of new home

I'm not sure what breed he is but he is beautiful. He has recently hit "chicken puberty" as I call it. He is protective of my girls but I don't consider him overly aggressive. My daughters are 4 and 6 and are absolutely terrified of him because he chased them off a couple of times. They...

5 month old pullet sneezing and wheezing-No other symptoms

Is it possible for them to react to a weather change? It's been much cooler at night for the last couple of days. Also some type of fall allergen is high. Both of my daughters and I have been congested for a few days, especially after waking up from sleeping with the windows open. I moved...

5 month old pullet sneezing and wheezing-No other symptoms

I noticed one of my girls apparently sneezing this morning. Otherwise, she appeared to be acting normally. This evening she sounds wheezy unless she is being still. I have quarantined her. There is no signs of any drainage from her eyes or nostrils. I have a total of 11 birds that are in a...
