    BTW I have some hatchery quality silver laced wyandottes that are prettier than my chicken friends breeder birds from a show person. I don't think its the norm but it does happen.

    I choose to feed fermented feed. I think it benefits my birds as well as meat and eggs. I gave my best friend a flock from my flock and she chooses to feed dry. She feeds good feed and it works for her. Her little flock suits her families needs. I believe each to his own. There are lots of ways...

    Have had a few single chicks for various reasons. I hang a feather duster so they can get under it like a mama. It works well

    I sell my extra eggs for $3 here in dry west texas. I have started attending a new church and am not that familiar with pastor or his family. I took 2 18 packs to the pastors wife sunday. In our conversation she told me they have 7 children. Well, my meager gift may only be one breakfast!!!!!!

    I feel this way completely. I breed some nice chickens. I want them to be good sturdy survivors for our area no matter how rare the breed. I don't raise and sell wimps that won't survive in our Texas weather.

    this is in a very large caged tomato plant. I know it's not a great idea to let them remain in my tomatoes but don't have the heart to remove them

    mine is just my first 2 initials and my last name that I have since changed anyway (back to Maiden name). Boring but it was late. Probably the only thing boring about me! I don't post much but tendency is to be bat poop crazy!

    Sometimes when nobody else is laying yet you can tell just by looking at their vents. You will know when you see it trust me. Of course this still requires getting awfully personal with a chicken.

    Sometimes birds just die. I have no problem with guessing what happened or cutting her open and having a look if that suits you but the base line truth is sometimes chickens just die.........
