    Are these wyandottes?

Sorry about the size of these pics. I don't know how to make them any smaller. :hide Anyway I was given a dozen eggs by a friend whose sister has an npip certified farm/hatchery and they were supposed to be either golden laced or blue laced wyandottes. He couldnt remember for sure. However...

    Water sealant for wooden incubator

Okay I have a homemade wood cabinet style incubator that I want to seal. I dug around and all I have on hand is Thompsons deck and Raincoat oil based with the antimildew stuff in it. I'm not really sure about using either one of these because I'm afraid they'll poison the eggs. Will they be...

premature gosling-looking for advice, picture added

My sebbie got it's egg crushed by it's momma stepping on it after it pipped(at least I think that is what happened-I know she left the nest to eat) and then it looked like she nibbled on the egg some. Anyway I checked her before I went to bed to make sure everything was going okay and found it...

    Here comes the FLOOD!

I am in north central arkansas. Our river is up, but not nearly as much as I had expected. Your description of your place sounds like DH's uncles camp we spent the weekend at in South Louisiana on the river swamps. In by boat and out by boat with alligators under the porch and fishing on it...

I will never be nominated for Mother of the year Award thread

I have a good one. We used to live a mile from the bus stop so I had to drive them to it every morning and pick them up in the evening. There was only one other house anywhere on that road. Anyway, one evening I had just pulled in the road from town shopping to wait for them to get off the...

Black bear in yard, fence down, goat gone

Maybe she just ran off in a panic and will turn up somewhere. Is it a rural area, or do you have nearby neighbors that she might end up at? Hope you find her safe.

Hawk killed all 47 chickens in an hour!

A hawk will kill and leave. BUT it is NOT typical. I had a mostly enclosed pen with a section of top open and the rest covered containing about 30 barred rock and EE chicks about 3 weeks old. A hawk got in there and killed 17 of them. I heard the racket and looked out and saw the dang thing...

    Arkansas folks speak up.........

Wow it's been a while since I've been to BYC. A couple of years at least. I usually hang out at SS, but thought I would wander over here for a while. I am glad the Arkansas thread has taken off so much! Now I don't feel so lonely! We have had well over a foot of rain here in the last couple...

    goose not laying at all

Okay so about 2 years ago I got a pair of geese right after laying season. Male and female for sure. Well I kept them and the next spring she laid 2 eggs by June. In June we moved to louisiana. I knew the stress alone would make her stop laying, even though my chickens and turkeys didn't...

So what is the correct shade of Buff?

I just have to chime in on this one! It is a sore spot with me. I gave father-in-law a pure bred buff orphington roo for his hens. It was a beautiful golden color. A very showy and well built rooster. One of my favorites. He ate it. Called it a mutt. Then he went and bought a rooster, when...

    Given some pigeons

...is probably about 30 in all. What do I need to know before I get them? Best feed? He feeds scratch, but aren't they supposed to have special feed? Problems housing them around chickens? Any info. hints or tricks to taking care of them will be appreciated. **Never mind-posted before read**

whats the deal with green or blue eggs?

https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=345321 Check out this thread going on-it could help in id-ing you chick. It's not an EE-they have dark colored legs and rose combs.

whats the deal with green or blue eggs?

No, the legs are the wrong color!! maybe a welsummer? Also has unusual colored eggs!

whats the deal with green or blue eggs?

I love EE's, but there really is nothing special about them other than they are pretty and lay unusual eggs. I think the novelty of blue or green eggs is lost though unless you have other colors as well. They are good layers, but there are other layers that are as good or better. I definately...
