A second egg hatched this morning! Fluffy and yellow with some wisps of black. No idea what kind... We are on Day 20 now... waiting for more to hatch or pip.
HATCH! We are on Day 19 (Day 20 is at 8pm tonight) and at 3:25pm the green egg named Rawr hatched! No idea what kind of chick it is, the person we got the 18 eggs from has a huge mixture of chickens and mixes. She does have a frizzle rooster and buff orpingtons too (yay! most excited about those)
Our eggs went into lockdown a few hours ago! :) Not all the eggs were fertile, but out of 18 eggs, 7-8 are possible to hatch 3 of them being very likely from all their movement. :)
Hi all, lots of catching up on posts to do for me...
We are on Day 20! No pips yet but we are anxiously waiting.... and waiting... Last hatch we had most on day 19 and 20, but the temp was higher then. We've had some temp flucuation issues the first week or so...so wouldnt be surprised if...
Good to know. Not so trusting of our new incubator is the biggest issue, should have ran more testing on it first.
We had one egg with massive cracks in the top, I think the temp gauge fell on it when it disconnected from the rod. Put it in a ziploc and cracked open the rest of the way...
So the eggs in my incubator are almost done with day 4. Most of them are too dark or green to see inside, but the two white eggs I can. I see a little bit of veining on both white eggs and the dark spot is very obviously bigger than yesterday...(dark spot bigger on the brown and green eggs...
We turned on a video of chickens playing from youtube and our chickens went crazy! Trying to peck at the video, jumping all over one another. When I had first turned it on, they all rushed over and were watching a different one with chickens, then I turned on this one with chickens playing...
DAY 1 AGAIN! Temps and humidity were staying good and so the batch of 18 variety (with a frizzle mutt in there somewhere!) is in. :) We go into lockdown on the 27th at 10:30pm! Feels so far away!
New incubator Hubby and I built is up and running! Doing final temp/humidity test before putting the eggs in that we got today. We got a batch of fertile eggs that are a mixture of different ones (YAY VARIETY!!!!) mutts and such. There is some Buff Orpington Frizzle Leghorn and I dont...
First hatch is done with 7 Living chicks. I know our humidity was an issue and having the eggs horizontal. Hubby made a new brooder out of a cabinet we picked up at the Habitat store. Looks awesome and is working awesome. Very very stable temps and humidity. I'll post pictures soon!
We...
So two of the eggs still in the brooder I know for sure are moving still after candling. One in particular I cant tell if it internal pipped or not, it seems like there is movement IN the air cell. WOuld that imply it internal pipped? If so would it be time to assist?
Nope, Pretzel the other double yoker hatched but only 1 chicken in it with a secondary rotten yolk in the egg. Thor is still not hatched, not sure if either in it is alive im guessing not, but waiting to see.
