Who in the Michigan area has Faverolle roosters they need to rehome? I need to replace my roos with 2 that don't have any knee joint issues. Several of the roos I got from the hatchery had bad knees. Of course the one's I kept ended up not being good either..... please PM me if you have any...
I have the same quality of birds from Ideal. One female dark brwn on the chest w/white head (thought at first it was a roo), one beardless... one w/beak deformity... the roosters at the same age have very little brown on them... they're almost all black bodied w/white and brown specks, with...

That would be a big no no to having black or smoke grey feathers on their chests for pullets. It makes me wonder where was the throwbacks consisted of?
Yes it makes me wonder ..... ALOT! I won't be buying from Ideal anymore.
Thanks for the info...
I can't see how a pullet with black chest feathers will change it's color enough to conform to the standard coloring. She's the salmon buff color on her wings and back like the rest of the pullets, and the roos are all pretty much black all over. I suspected a little...
I have a question about feather colors. Once the chick molts into his adult feathers... will they change colors? Or is Ideal trying to feed me a line of crap?

I know someone who got some pullets from Ideal last year. Their coloring was just awful. Most of the girls not only had black flecking, they had large patches of black! Many looked like roos, not pullets. So it's possible you do have your 12 pullets but they won't look that great.
we...
one of my SF chicks is confused! It's all light brown feathers in the wings like the rest of the girls, but really dark brown chest feathers... I am not sure if it's a washed out rooster or a funky colored hen... will try to post a pict tonight. All the boys are black like they're supposed to...
Do blues "pop" up from regular breeding stock? I have a chick that looks very gray compared to the others. Oh, and my little roo is due to arrive today... and now it looks like a couple of my older chicks maybe roos. There is such variety in the batch that I have, it was hard to tell. I went...

Are you able to keep a REALLY close eye on things? I mean, checking every few minutes for the first day or two? Sometimes, not always, older chicks will pick at a baby placed among them. If they don't, if they are good to him or at least ignore him, he will probably be able to...
My little fav roo is due to arrive friday (Ideal is going to mark him for me). Will he be ok to put with my amost 3 wk old fav pullets? I have the temp set at 80 deg now.. will it be too cold for him? Should I provide a small bulb, placed lower so he can get more heat?
Well... the recent picts just proved what I suspected... I have no roos! We ordered 20 Faves including 2 roos, 4 died .... I took my 14 home hoping for a roo or two... nothing, they're 3 wks now, and all look the same. I'm bummed
I did alot of research on chickens before I decided on Salmon Faverolles. Of all the things I read, they do well in confined quarters(they'll have a covered run and allowed out when I can escort them)... I understand they do well in the cold, and are good natured, good layers and can be broody...
