We had hominy snow up here in DeKalb county last night.
Bubby got into it with the neighbors cattle dog who came over here and wanted to kill our cats and yard chickens. Bubby didn't like that but is still a puppy so didn't have the fighting thing figured out yet. Poor baby.
Our LGD Anatolian Shephard/Pyrenese 8 month old puppy came in at night the past few nights when it was so cold. He immediately claimed the couch. Wisher, how is your puppy doing ? And he keeps our cats away from the chickens. He "tolerates" the cats, but he will pick them up and toss them...
Aww I forgot all about it! Wish we could have met but I was gone all day yesterday. We named ours Bubby, even though we wanted something big and mean sounding too, but he was such a sweetie lovey that he had to be Bubby. Now that he really is big and bad it makes people giggle when they meet him...
He is only 7 months old and is STILL a puppy and will be for probably another year. He likes to chew and run and jump same as any pup but he is so sweet and listens extremely well for the breed. He is very helpful and understands his role already with the other animals. He barks at night (we...

My daughter has her 4-H chickens for sale $12 each or $150 for all 15 birds. She has 3 barred rock pullets, 5 New Hampshire Red pullets and one rooster, and 5 black Australorps and one rooster. Northeast Alabama off interstate 59. DeKalb County, AL
I don't know i didn't see anything about that. They know me at tractor supply....like i should be selling them chicks instead of buying chicks ! He asked me if I wanted the whole tub full. LOL i said no, just 12 broilers and 4 ducks.
Fort Payne got theirs! I went, of course! Brought home 12 cornish rocks and 4 pekin ducks. They had red pullets, rir straight run and straight run barred rocks. I know nothing about these litte quackers so I am reading.
I looked in my chicken log book from last year and TSC Ft Payne didn't get chicks until March 1st .
I bought 6 bantams for $17.94, two died that day, one more died on March the 3rd.
I'm thinking about getting some ducks this year and cornish X.
I kicked my Leghorns and Sulmtalers out in the cold two weeks ago. They hatched December 16-ish. Acclimated them for a week with no heat lamp except at night. Then out on their own. They are in a coop in the barn. Those two breeds feather VERY fast though so not every breed would be ready to go...
4-H chicken chain info is available for most Alabama counties now. They just posted DeKalb counties yesterday. DD wants to join this year, it will be our first time participating. Seems like a lot less chicks than I remember reading about in the past, and only take 3 to the fair instead of 5...
I had a bad hatch a couple weeks ago and have a lonely little chick. It loves the mirror but i need to find it a real chick to grow up with. Does anyone have any chicks that hatched around the middle of December?
