I posted earlier and was given some great info, but I still have a few more questions that may sound silly, but here it goes. 1. I was told that I should get duckling crumble, will the baby on it's own start eating it or do I have to keep putting it by the dish, I also haven't seen it take any... -

could someone tell me what the average life span of a hen could be...give or take is fine. I have 7 ladies and just wondering. could there be an other reason for soft shelled eggs?
I have noticed that a few of my hens have been laying eggs with very soft shells, well they are hard but any slight pressure on the shell and they crack. what could have happened to the duckling?
I came home from work tonight and just spent the last hour looking for a missing duckling. It was born two days ago. The momma duck and baby have been in the barn and before I left for work I had put the other female and male duck in the barn also as I don't get home till late and it was going... -

egg sitting...

poisoned goat.....
One of my goats got into my rubabrb patch, I removed him right away,but I do know he got some mouth fulls of the leaves which are poisonous. male duck attacking...
I have three orphan ducks that I raised since last fall. They are free range and come and go as they please from the barn. My problem is that I also have free range hens that the male duck will attack. It almost seems like he tries to mate with him as he tries to climb on top of them like does... -
broody hen question...
I did a search on what to do with a broody hen and the most often given advice was placing the hen in a wire bottomed cage. If I don't have one of those can I just close off the nesting boxs after the one and only hen that ISN'T broody has laid her egg and force the other four hens outside...or...- Elly

whats wrong with my girls???
