well, I have gone and done it now
I have had no chickens for almost a year...'possums ravaged my flock...I trapped 11 of the ugly things in a 2 week period and have seen no more of them...I have fortified my coop...I have 20 geese and am down to a scant 14 ducks and have had no predation for a while...so...I have ordered 25...- duck walk

after all the trouble and disasters
four of the eight eggs have pipped...we had two power outages where the temps dropped significantly and before that, the dogs were playing near the 'bator and pulled the plug...it was out for about five hours and the temp was in the 60's when I discoverd it and plugged her back up...I was sure... -

For those who wonder if geese lay in the fall, around here, the answer is YES! They have been mating in the pools for about two weeks and today, I got my first White Chinese Goose egg...woohoo!!!
