Attn Guinea Pig Breeders! Need your help! Warning: graphic description

A lot of first time moms loose babies. They tend to just come too fast for them to clean them off in time since they are so inexperienced and the hormones may not be as strong. Even experienced moms can somtimes have still borns or babies that dont make it through birthing, its very uncommon for...

Lost my daughters' guinea pig last night - added pix pg 2

Im so sorry for your loss, she looks like she was a very sweet girl. Its always so sad to loose a little piggie and each one is so special and has their own little personality. But with little critters or in anything for that matter somtimes accidents just happen and with kids you cant blame...

    Castrating An Older Buck

I have successfully neutered quite a few older bucks. Mostly for people that got or had babies and never got around to it or didn't realize how difficult an adult buck would be to handle and care for. Ages 1 year to probably the oldest at around 5 years old. I bought a calf bander that has a...

What to do with a half-wethered pygmy goat?

I had a friend with a goat with a retained testicle. He had been surgically neutered the first time by the breeder since something wasn't right but the 2nd one was up too high and they didnt want to dig around to search for it. She was told that he wouldnt be able to breed and should be treated...

    baby goats

I am going to have to agree with everyone else and say that buying the goats with the intent of only keeping one when the breeder thinks they are going as a pair is dishonest. She at least needs to be up front with the breeder about only getting one and let it be the breeders decision as to if...

A BEE thread....for those interested in beekeeping.

I have one hive I got last year. I just ordered another 3 lbs of bees to start another. I dont find it time consuming at all. It is a bit of an investment to get started the right way. I too seem to have had a worse reaction everytime I get stung to the point that the last time I was stung by...

This goat's a pain in the expletive. I need advice please.

are you sure shes overweight and doesn't just have a belly? If she truly is a pure pygmy they have big pot bellies. If she isnt nursing kids I would just have her on a mix of alfalfa and grass hay anyway, no need for any grain, though it may be helpful to hand feed her a handful once or twice a...

    Avian Sexing

I have also used Avian Biotech and really recommend it. They are quick with both sending out test kits and getting results back. I use the blood card method and have had 3 Green Cheeks and 2 Sun Conures done and so far all have been accurate. I wont hesitate to use them again when needed.
