    black on the comb??

I've always seen a few black specks on the comb, but it seems to be getting worse. could it be from giving them a lot of watermelon rinds and the comb getting wet and sticky and then getting dirt stuck on it? or do you think there's something else going on?

    deep pool type ponds question

this may be a really stupid question, but in a deep pool type pond, like a tub of some sort, how do the ducks get out? I know that in a regular pond in the ground outside, they would have an incline of the ground and walk out because the ground is under their feet, but in a pool type setting...

Integrating chicks with hens, FOOD problem

I am currently integrating 2 groups of chicks and also 2 ducks (the 2 ducks flock with one of the groups of chicks), with my hens. So far they're all getting along pretty well, but the hens won't leave the chicks food alone. Is there any other solution to this other than buying grower pellets...

I just can't keep all these roos! 4 roos would be too many LOL. Age, 11ish weeks. mixed breed of red pyle something...

    Eggbound, passed egg, acting paralized...?

My friend's chicken was eggbound for a few days, and she finally passed the egg. But, now she's having a hard time getting around. She's losing her balance and falling over. Will it improve in time do you think? Or do you think the egg sat on a nerve too long and now there is permanent...

Polish, male or female... 4 weeks old

Is it too early to tell at this age, or can you tell at all by their crests? This first one started developing the crest a few days sooner than the second photo. So, I'm not sure if that has any indicator in the visual aspect of how the crest falls or not.

I saw a cute pond I liked in the pond thread...

But, man those liner things are expensive! is there anything else that works well that isn't as expensive? or should I just get a kiddie pool? I wanted them to be able to swim under water since they really love doing that so much, and a kiddie pool isn't exactly deep enough, plus a kiddie...

I've had friends trying to convince me to get some for years now... but all I heard was how messy they were. But, chicken eggs give me a stomach ache and duck eggs don't, so I decided to get 2 khaki campbells. :) they're 3 weeks old now. they are SOOOOO much fun! I wish I had got ducks...

    Cinnamon queen chicks, mostly white??

I have 2, 5 year old hens who are mostly red with some white. I was expecting my new chicks to be the same, however they are mostly white with a little red. Is this right? or did the place give me the wrong thing?

    Chickens dying this winter

I've lost a few chickens this winter and I'm not sure why. I haven't had a problem with chickens dying in the winter before. But, the weather has been very odd this year and I wonder if it has anything to do with it. we will get sub zero temps for a week, and then the next week it will jump...

What is wrong with my hens leg?

I thought she broke her leg, but a month later (isolated for 3 weeks of the month bc the rooster really likes her) and she still doesn't want to put pressure on that foot/leg. She hasn't laid an egg in months, but I don't think I feel one in there. she is just 1 year old. she hasn't laid eggs...

I've had 2 eggs so far, that have hundreds of tiny air bubbles clustered together inside the egg. Is this a ruptured air cell? and whatever it is, WHY is this happening? what causes it?
