Quote: Mine are as good of layers as some of my other breeds. I've currently got 9 hens from 1 to 3 years old and I get anywhere from 6 to 8 eggs most days.

Quote: You just need to be like me......have them because you think they're pretty birds and you like the dark eggs. I'm trying to keep a nice line of birds but in the end I want them to be what makes me happy and that I enjoy.....all the drama that has a tendency to go along with them will...

Quote: I know what you mean about the claims for 8s and 9s.......I'm sure there are a few hens out there that lay them once in a while, but I think they're few and far between. It's hard to get a decent picture of egg color.....either the flash washes them out or the lack of light makes them...

Quote: Actually not a bad idea mainly to see if grows back white or normal color. At the same time feed the bird a different mix to see if diet impacts feather color. Joe I'm thinking it didn't appear until his molt this fall. I spend a lot of time out there with my birds and I can't...

I took some new pictures of my wheatens and finally got them downloaded. My mature (almost 3 years) roo has a little bit of white fluff, but my 5 month old cockeral really doesn't have any showing yet, but he has a lot of maturing to do. I'm hoping he gets as big as the older one because he...

I need to get some new photos of my wheatens. These are probably both are at least a year old. The one is when the girls had all molted out their dark tail feathers and in the other picture the roo was molting and looked pretty disheveled. The egg pictures are from early last summer.
