OK. I just sold off my 9 hatchery LB's. Will probably sell off my leghorns. So I have Heritage Reds and Dellies now.
So now I'm looking for some good Buff Brahmas to go with them. Looking for chicks. I had a bad deal with hatching eggs before. If anybody can point me in the right direction...
x2. I have hatchery Light's and my Heritage Reds are just as big or bigger. Thinking about getting read of them and going with some Breeder Buffs this spring if I can find any.
OMG!! My light's have been through a bad molt for the last 1 1/2 months so haven't been laying. Why they went through a molt this time of year I have no idea. There this years chicks. But one laid an egg for the first time in that long and it was the biggest egg i have ever seen from any...
Some say weather and stress can have an effect. Don't know which ones are doing it. I just moved them to a new spot and house when they started. Or I might have to go back to layena feed. Trying now layer feed from Southern States.
Had a question about LB eggs. They been laying now a little over a week. Still getting soft eggs they are dropping at night. There's Leghorns in with them that started laying at the same time. All the leghorn eggs are fine. So I know it's the Brahmas. Could be some are just starting. They all...
I clean them all up, then put ACV in the water. Also if you put a little olive oil around there butts to help the poo not stick. This usually clears them right up.
Yea, having the time to read through is were the probably lie's. LOL. Have so much to do. Just finishing up on my new 6x12 hen house for everybody. Still have to run 100ft of fencing today. Then I can move them over. The LB's are starting to lay along with my Leghorns. So I have to get them out...
Same here with the rain. Needs to dry out for a few days. My chickens careless if it's raining or not. They go under the house, then back in the rain...etc etc. I think it cools them off. Temp not high this year at all, but the humidity here is a killer this year. Hence all the rain.
My Lights started laying. Yeh! I just hope the eggs get a bit bigger. lol. Sort of small right now. I was told they never will get as big as HRIR eggs, but meds will do fine.
I'm going with 3 pullets and a cockerel. The cockerel being the one that has it's head to the left. The other 3 look pale in the face. He is the only one with red. But as always, they have a mind to foul you some times.
Anybody help out? If not this is what works for me.
First: Get them away from everybody else. DO NOT put them in the house. I had some in the house for 2 weeks and never got better. They really need to be outside. When it was cold at night i would put them in the shed. I used a very big dog...
