Yay! I'm so glad you like them! I had my first one from my own breeders hatch out while I was in Jersey! I'm on my way to building my small DE silkie empire :) We have no good breeders her that I have found. As for your hen we can take her, I have a friend asking me for her too because he would...
I'm so excited for Thursday too! I've been looking at them all day trying to decide which of the 2 non-vaulted to go with, and one is so much smaller then the others so I figure the bigger one is the best bet, and then it took forever to narrow down a vaulted, but this one is just too cute and...
Well my hatch is over and I had 10 out of 14 so that's my best hatch yet. Well best out of 3. I love my cuties from Mary our fellow BYC'er on here! Cutest silkies ever! Or at least in my opinion.
So far out of my 14 eggs I have 9 adorable silkies and 1 more pipped! Since Thanksgiving is over and I just couldn't resist the pic:
Merry Chickmas Everyone!
So tomorrow is day 21 for the silkie eggs I picked up in GA on our honeymoon. We have all 5 of our kids here for Thanksgiving and I'm so thankful we get to share this with them! Normally my husbands kids are with their mom in MD so this is going to be a great holiday!
Yeah this egg had only been laid about 10-15 min of me putting it in the bator. I'm leaving it to see the results either way. She just started laying for me (she was brooding eggs for her precious owner when I purchased her though) and the first 4 that I've put in are showing no signs of...
So I'm curious as to what others do, and what results you've find work better for you. A friend and I were just talking about my show silkies eggs that I've been collecting and setting in the bator. At first I was trying to wait to set them when I had 2 or 3 at a time to put in the bator, so I...
Well my current hatch is over, I locked down 10 eggs, 2 died right after I'm guessing, 1 never pipped and died sometime last night, 7 hatched, and 1 sadly died shortly after. Much better hatch then the last one though, where nothing made it out of 27 eggs. So I now have 3 of the cutest Amerucana...
So I have just one buckeye mix and one buff Orpington left to hatch. The buckeye pipped at the wrong end and then turned itself around after leaving a gaping hole near the small end and hasn't done anything since. It's still alive and has pipped the air cell but not the shell. The buff orp has...
So I used to raise and breed bearded dragons as a small hobby breeder, and I can safely say that hatching chickens is way more stressful! So I locked down 10 eggs, and so far I've had 5 hatch (1 of which died shortly after), I have 2 more pips and 1 confirmed late death (maybe in the last 48...
Well we are back from our honeymoon and had some issues while we were gone. A power outage, and some temp issues after that, but we only lost 3 eggs and one was the one with the air sack at the bottom. While we were gone we took a day trip from our cabin in mid western NC to Atlanta GA to goto...
Well I am happy to report that out of the 15 eggs I set on the 20th, I only had 2 clears and one early quitter. The one egg with the air cell at the bottom and the embryo at the top has fixed itself and is going strong! I'm not sure how it worked, but I'm glad it did, because I really didn't...
Yeah I double checked to make sure it wasn't upside down, but I do have a large calcium deposit at the bottom of the egg (the pointy end) and I think that may have been the problem. My husband didn't candle them before he set them for me (trying to be helpful) so I didn't get to candle them...
So I candled my eggs tonight, and I have some nice embryos growing! I have one that quit early on, and my duck eggs look completely clear, but what my real problem is, is that I have a Silver Duckwing egg that is doing great, but the air cell is at the bottom of the egg for some reason, while...
