Here are some chick pictures. Pardon the dirty brooder roof. An enabler friend calls up the other day and asks me if I want to ride along with her when she went to pick up some chicks from a local breeder. I just couldn't come home empty handed. The breeder has pure amera roos over amera hens...
Interesting. Last year I hatched out some Game X d'Uccle's and several of the hens have feathers on their backs that are slightly frizzled. It surprised me, because I have never owned any frizzled birds either. Definitely post a photo when he/she is fully grown.
I have a flock of about 60 birds (about 30% EE's and the rest other breeds) so it is a bit hard to tell who is laying what. I've been sneaking in and checking on who is laying of late, and I've gotten all but 3 or 4 of my EE's figured out. My RIRX EE's are almost a year old now, and have nice...
With all this talk about RIR X EE crosses, I think I may need to find out what my two yearlings are laying. I guess I've assumed they would lay brown eggs, and never really thought about it. But since several others have now mentioned that they are getting green eggs from theirs, there might be...
How old is this bird? And am I correct in guessing that it is part black copper maran?
How old? If this is a young bird, than it is definitely cockerel.
Congrats!! I remember you posted pics of her on the EE sexing thread, glad to hear I guessed correctly! She is a very pretty pullet, I love the yellow/white coloring.
Correct. Ideal is basically admitting that their birds are EE's, yet they still sell them as purebred Amera's.
Pretty birds! Does the cockerel in the bottom photo have Leghorn in him?
Murray Mcmurray and Ideal hatcheries both sell Easter Eggers as well, though they market them as Amiraucana/Araucanas. Ideal even insists to have ''purebred'' Ameraucanas, though they admit their birds are not show quality, and can lay any color of egg.....
Thanks! That's Partyboy, my former EE rooster. I gave him to a friend last summer (he was related to my entire flock). None of my new EE roosters are quite as stunning as he was.
That's a very interesting and thought provoking question. Most of My EE's came from 2 different hatcheries, mt healthy (It may have been Ideal, I don't remember) and Meyers. I think the ones that came from MT H or Ideal had more Ameraucana in them, based on their color and body conformation...
