    Hello fellow chicken parents!

I am very new to having chickens, I got mine about 3 weeks ago. I have 20 birds total: 3 adult Rhode Island reds, 5 Rhode Island chicks, 5 Golden Comet chicks, 5 Australorp chicks, and 2 ducklings. So far, I love building things for them, converted a shed to be a coop, built perches, toys, among...

    Neighborhood Cat

Hello everyone, Our new neighbors have an indoor/outdoor cat that roams the neighborhood. He’s incredibly friendly and seems well fed but has taken a keen interest in our chickens. He was in the backyard by our gate on Sunday and I even caught him climbing the fence this afternoon (picture...

    Stray cat...?

There is a stray cat wondering around our street lately and he or she comes into our yard sometimes and then I chase it away. Should I be more careful about it or do something else? I am afraid that the cat will get into the coop or run when I am not there. Any advice is appreciated!!! Thanks...

    Cat Bit Me?

I've had my cats for years. All of them are sweet. They go outside and walk along me when I do yard work and take care of the animals. And they are snuggly inside, sometimes jumping into my arms or onto my shoulder (...like a Pikachu.) Today, my oldest tomcat was in my lap, purring and enjoying...

Will a rooster attack my cats and dogs?

I have five Buff Orpington hens and six chicks, I'm thinking one of the chicks is a roo and trying to figure out how he'll affect things when he grows up. My hens free-range and do rather well. I think they could benefit from having a rooster to protect them. But I also have three small dogs...

Look at this gorgeous stray cat!

She showed up outside my in-law’s workplace in an industrial/non-residential part of the city. She started to shiver and freak out when we gave her food. Poor thing must have been starving. She’s so tiny! But so sweet! I just had to brag about her beauty (even though she’s not a chicken). No...

    Introductions

Hello, I'm fairly new to the backyard chicken flock club. Before making any purchases I was sure to do quite a bit of research, but research isn't the same as experience. I'm hoping I'll be able to find out more information from people with first-hand experiences! At the moment there's three...

My cat got neutered today, as I pet him his lower back feels like rice crispies (sub-cutaneous air for any medical folks). I didn’t notice it until after the vet office was closed. Does anyone know if this is normal after neutering? (I have only ever owned female dogs that have been fixed) he...

so tonight when we let the dogs out they were barking like mad right next to the house, upon inspection there was a little kitten down in the basement window well.
