My 17-week pullet's tail looks ragged. I do not care about the aesthetics, but want to make sure this is not an issue with diet, parasites or living conditions. As a first time chicken keeper I am grateful for any advice.
I am looking for 3 lavender orpington chicks/pullets from show quality stock. I know lavender is not an official variety. I would consider straight runs depending on the drive, price, etc.
Considering driving up to 2 hours one way. I am in southeast MO, my zip code is 63755.
Hi everyone! I’m new here, but this website has helped us SO MUCH with raising our first baby chicks. We have six girls (I think)! A lavender orpington, a silver laced wyandotte, a buff, a cinnamon queen and two Easter eggers. I’m curious about my little lavender, Lottie. She’s had this comb...
I have two Lavender Orpington roosters and one needs to go. I want to keep the one that will be best for breeding and both are not people aggressive so that isn’t a problem. We had some wind last night that blew open the door separating the roosters and they fought so that’s why they look beat...
I am new to raising chickens. I grew up in So. Cal at the beach and when I was lucky enough to be around the occasional horse corral growing up I loved the chickens and goats more than the horses... . Now I live in a place that allows chickens and I have a great supportive man in my life that...
I have 6 lavender orpingtons, 9 weeks old now. My fear is only one is a girl. I cannot care for 6 rooster. Number 5 was uncooperative. What do you think, only one hen or is their any hope for the others?
Hi everyone! :frow
I currently have 4 RIR hens named Carole, Pinky, Minnie and Big Betty who are all healthy ladies just over a year old and 3 younger Lavender Orps new to the flock as of this year: one a 5 month old roo named Teddybudz a.k.a. "Trouble" and the other 2 are brooder pair named...

2 years old and a wonderful protector. We lost 21 hens in 2018 before we got Gandalf.
Since we’ve had him, we’ve never lost a hen to a hawk attack again.
He’s huge, great with kids, cars, goats, cats, dogs, and all other humans.
That being said, he would need large hens because he is so large...
I am reposting with some better pictures. The breeder told me all girls but one, but one was iffy. They are all getting big combs @ 5 weeks. I posted some pictures yesterday and they were pretty unanimously boys. But I took some better pictures today.
I know it’s early and likely too early, but my lavender Orpington has much thicker legs, a more developed comb, and very pointy tail feathers compared to my other two. Is this a breed thing or potential for a rooster?
thanks!
Hello interwebs - long time reader, first time poster here...
Let me get to the point (with some light rambling upfront):
Husband was awesome this spring (March 2020) and surprised me with a fancy chic tractor to help me find some focus after our beloved cat passed away (@19!)
We got four babies...
Hello, I ordered some lavender orpington chicks and som isabel orpington hatching eggs, but now it came to my mind, is there a difference between these two? coulg i breed them with one another? Im new to the chicken world.
As a first time chick mom I am learning as I go but I'm a little stumped with how I should try to introduce or encourage the chicks to start getting used to their nesting boxes. They have been in their big coop for a month and they just haven't been interested in the nesting boxes. They are just...
6 week old Lavender Orpington and 9 week old Lightt Brahma . Was told they are cockerels. We unfortunately are not allowed roosters in our town...any help would be greatly appreciated!
Any guesses? We have had truly no general consensus on these two and it seems like even at 2 1/2 months we have no idea! We’d love any input you have to share!
