    bumblefoot and scaly leg mites!!!

After some quick research I'm quite sure that one of my chickens has both bumblefoot and scaly leg mites. I've learned of treatment options, but I'm unsure of what order to treat the issues in. Her bumblefoot abscesses will likely need home surgery, so should I wait to start any oil soaking for...

watery bubbles in eyes, possible MG?

Today I noticed my light brahma (in a flock of 6) has watery eyes with small bubbles at the corners of both eyes. She hasn't laid in the last few weeks (though it's also winter in upstate New York), and is otherwise completely herself. She happily goes for treats, eats, drink, has no issues...

Light Brahma - Hen or Roo??

Hello, I am new to the chicken world and have recently purchased 18 pullets or what was supposed to be. :) This is Marge, my beautiful 11 week old Light Brahma who up until recently, I thought was a she. He/She does not have long stringy or triangular neck feathers, but instead look more...

    I think my hen isn't a hen

I'm a first time chicken mom. I got 5 pullets, different breeds, in early spring. I was so excited for the light brahma because of the feathery feet. After a couple weeks she was clearly the biggest, and bossiest, of the 5. She's easily twice as big as any of the others. We thought it was a...

At what age did your chickens lay?

Good morning! I was wondering when did everyone’s girls start to lay? I have two Rhode island reds, two prairie bluebell easter eggers, and two light bramahas that are 16 weeks and I have a buff orpington, white leghorn, and americana easter egger that are 8 weeks. This is my first personal...

Light Brahma rooster is increasingly aggressive

My light Brahma rooster is now attacking all the hens and my other rooster pulling feathers aggressively. I tried to give him a chance and basically separated him for a bit and when I let him back out he was right back at it. He is a little over 4 months is there any way to stop this...

    7 of 25 Laying

I have gathered 25 laying hens over the past couple of months. 9 were younger pullets and the rest were laying prior to me acquiring them. I am getting 5-7 eggs a day. Is this normal? They have access to oyster shell and get layer crumbles.

    Hens or Roos

I hatched some chicks that are now 12 weeks old. In unsure of the sex on two of them. One of the chickens in question is a light brahma and the other is a cross between a light brahma and partridge cochin. I couldn't get good pic of the crossbred chicken's tail so I'll try again tomorrow.

    Hello from Texas

Hi everyone! I’m new here. I’m a middle age guy that live near Houston, TX. Trying to build up a new flock. Pesky raccoons destroyed my last flock. Incubating new light Brahmas, even bought a cabinet incubator that’s way fancier than I needed. Found one very cheap, need to find a way to build or...

I did a 50/50 on the straight run and am hoping for a hen, I think the last photo makes the comb look larger than it is

    Southwest Michigan Light Brahma rooster

Four and a half month old beautiful light Brahma rooster needs a new home. Ordered all pullets, but this one turned out to be a cockerel. Very calm and sweet. Will eat out of your hand if you let him. We just don't want a rooster in our flock. About 10 miles west of Kalamazoo.

    Light Brahma pullet or cockerel?

This is Pikachu. (my daughter named him/her). I thought it was a cock but now I'm almost thinking it's a pullet. The hackle feathers are really the only tell I have at this point and nobody in my family has any idea. We got Pikachu about a week after mothers day, so he/she is about 7 weeks old...
