«We Could Be Legends»

"Maybe Lachlan could be someone he could talk to." Toby said under his breath. He sighed, and watched her leave. He walked towards River and Wolfram. "How are we going to destroy the poison? I still think my idea about space could work." He said, louder than he had been speaking with Taylor.
Taylor glanced at the three, and could already tell by Wolfram's face he was in one of his moods. She snapped her fingers, using her magic to drag Toby away. "Just let him breathe for a second. He's in one of his moods." She said quietly, frowning.

River shook her head violently for a moment, before stilling again. "But it is. I should have known..." Her voice broke, and it took her a few agonizing moments to continue. "I should have known his soldiers would do this. I should have known they had more of that... That stuff! I should have told the police. Then they'd be alive. I should have known that they'd kill people. I should have known they would look for the key at Thomas's... I should have protected all of them like I promised." She muttered, blinking rapidly to cast away the tears she knew was about to form.
Wolfram took a step closer to her, and put a shaking hand on her shoulder. "Look at me, River." He murmured. "None of this is your fault. How would you have known Mapleshade would have gone to Tayn and Thomas's house? Nothing in this is your fault." He wasn't one hundred percent sure who he was, but he just assumed she was talking about Michael. "Please don't blame yourself for this." He whispered, choking on emotion.

(GTG so it won't be a long post.)
River glanced up at him, her face contorted as she tried to force an amused smirk, but it failed quickly and turned into a half grimace, half insane and terrifying grin. "I've fought them before, I've learned them. I of anyone should have known. They attacked my place and didn't find it, so they had to assume it would be with one of the other people from the park. Plus, Camilla and Alice are Lachlan's cousins, and they probably knew he got close to you. I just... I was too worried about Lachlan to warn them. I allowed them to die, I kept it from them." Her eyes drifted away, void of life. "You know, kid, after my parents died, I lost contact with my little brother. But then, miracle of all miracles, I found him when I was eighteen and he was sixteen. I promised on my life I'd protect him." She whispered, her eyes meeting Wolfram's once more, now filled with sorrow. "Guess I failed that promise pretty bad, aye?"

Alice to this point had remained sitting silently on the floor near Camilla, trying to come up with a plan, listening to everyone else, hoping something they said would give her an idea. She flinched at her parents names. Reminded of how she had failed them. If she'd just kept the blue crystal her mom would have been fine. She was sure of it. An idea flicked in her head, it might not work, but what if it did.

"The blue crystal healed Uncle Gage from this stuff before." She said excitedly. "What if we, combine the poison or what ever with the blue glow bugs? Maybe it would make it heal everyone instead, or something. I mean, I don't think we can get away with just destroying." She frowned trying to thing. "Or, maybe that would destroy it. But it wouldn't matter I guess if it did, as long as we have something to give them."

Toby finished cleaning the bathroom. As he was washing his hands, it occurred to him. I am such a dummy. I told Jessi to call me if something was wrong. My phone is broken, so she can't. Idiot! I need to get it repaired, now is a very inconvenient time for it to be broken. He thought. He grabbed his cleaning supplies and left the bathroom. His shift was almost over. Perfect. I just need to tell my boss I can't work today and I can go fix my phone. He put his supplies back in the closet, and walked outside. He got in his car and drove home. He got to his apartment, and grabbed his house phone. He dialed his bosses number, and waited for her to pickup. "Hi Elle, this is Toby. I'm so sorry, something has come up and I can't work today, maybe not even this week. I'm sorry for the inconvenience." He said.
"Oh. Okay. I'll let Sapphire know, she can take your shift."
"Thanks." Toby hung up, and took a quick shower. He got dressed, and drove to the phone store. "Hey, is there anyway you can fix this? Or transfer all the stuff into another phone?" He asked, handing over his shattered phone. The man nodded. "I'll see what I can do. Come back in a few hours and we should have something done by then."
Toby nodded and left. He got into his car, and sat there for a few minutes. Now what should I do? I could go back to my apartment, or I could go back to mom's place to see if they have a plan yet.
Or you could find the Multitude base, see the person you're crushing on, wink wink.
What?!?! I'm not crushing on her!
Oh really? Don't lie, she's pretty hot.
I'm not lying! And sure, she's hot, but her powers make her that way. Besides, she kidnapped me!
She saved your life.
Not having this conversation with you.
Toby turned on the radio, loud enough to block out the voices. He drove to Jenna's house and parked. He walked inside, and looked around. "Okay, what are we going to do about the key and the bank?" He asked no one in particular.

Indigo sipped her tea at the quartz-topped island in her house, spearmint. Her tongue burned from the heat. Frustration was meddling her brain. She wasn't sure how she knew it, but she had failed yesterday. She had said all the wrong things. No one would trust her now. She was the absolute worst enchantress there was.
Still, she only really used a little enchantment on the enemy, and a tiny sleep one. She felt guilty about it. But it had to be justified. It had saved Toby's life.
She contemplated Toby. He was scared of her, but easy to talk to. Everyone else either pitied or hated her. Toby just... was Toby. Somehow, after two days, Toby's personality had already become a mental adjective for her. A tiny smile crossed her cranberry colored lips.
She pushed it away the thought. She had more important things to think about. She knew that these kids just had to be the key. The Multitudes own key. The say to stop the Pure. But how could she convince them? And the more she tried, the more she started to doubt them. What did they have that the Multitude, the Pure didn't?
They have powers. They have you.
No. She was nothing but a lure. She hadn't the leadership to lead them. And she was only attractive on the outside.
Just beneath the surface, her past lurked. And with any questions, distrust could easily result. As if it hadn't already.

(I don't know why this didn't post.)
Toby's eyes widened, and he stared up at her with a mix of shock and horror. He slowly backed away from her, starting to shake slightly. Someone can enchant me, someone else can read my emotions, and now someone has telekinesis. No, no, I should leave. I need to leave.

(I'm shipping Tobigo so hard right now.)

Jessi shook her head. "Not yet. I just got past problem 2." She sighed. "I should've known this at least a year ago."
Yris shook her head, responding "This is all so confusing. If you want, we could work on this sometime later after school if you don't have any problems...the syllabus says there's thirty problems to get done, so...only if you're not busy, of course." She looked to Jessi with an agreeable smile, but one that was open as opposed to demanding; Yris was convinced others here had friends already, something that she was currently working on.

His vexatious agreement had Bleddyn decide then and there that she was going to fight him; no matter his advantages in height and likely strength.
She needed to fight him.
Not even him in particular, but anyone.
Something needed to dispel this heavy shroud of misery that she couldn't shred on her own. She'd found contradictory consolation in confrontation countless times before- it had to work now.

But she couldn't find it in her to get up.
The weekend's losses were unshakable, oppressive boulders weighing her down and she had no means by which to dislodge them.

Subjugated outwardly by her inner battles, Bleddyn collapsed back into her chair and the escaping sigh left her as a pathetic drained balloon.
Virio gave a satisfied nod at her fatigue, with that signifying that, at least tentatively, she was done with her glaring session, and that he wouldn't have to get in a fight. With that being said, he laid back in his chair, before getting back to the algebra problems, occasionally making sure she wasn't disturbing the peace anymore. There was an odd feeling within him that caused him to believe that she was in fact not physically tired, that something had emotionally scarred her. Perhaps why that sentiment was so vivid was all the times he had recollected himself, looking for a father and mother, finding none, reinforcing the unfortunate fact that he had been deserted, for any particular reason. Suddenly, his mind shimmered away from the endless algebra problems, and focused on that very topic, his eyes attempting to focus on the worksheet, to no avail.

Jessi smiled. "That would be great!" She said, excited to have a match buddy. Her face fell. She wouldn't be able to do it today, considering she wanted to know more about the Pure. "I'm sorry, I can't do it today. Maybe we can do it another day? I doubt these will be the only hard math problems." She said.
