Quail getting into position to break out of the egg
Tomorrow is lockdown.
I'm early one day.
Close enough for me.View attachment 1898723
i’ve still got a couple pipped from staggered hatch and i didn’t set until later than you so friday morning will be day 14.5 for main batch and day 13 for remainder. i candled 28 yesterday and they all still look good! lots of movement!

In my experience the single random celadon hens that pop up when you aren't expecting them tend to be much more impressive layers than the pools of celadon that have been kept and bred together for many, many generations. It's up to you whether you want to cross her onto a male from a known celadon line (maybe having some decline in vigour/egg size) or a regular male (probably more robust offspring but also you're going to have to aggressively backcross to mom to get more blue layers which can cause it's own problems).

Very true... I guess first I should find out which bird is laying them :lau

My celadon are definitely not that color...probably a fluke you most likely not be able to replicate :(

So much inbred genes here...popeyes crossed beaks no eyes.

And ugh... I don't know if you saw but Lorena Bobbitt killed herself diving into a feeder hole. I've got 9 males (including the ones from you)and I think she was chased to death :hit:hit:hit
We are going to chop this weekend. If you can muster a trip so soon back you're welcome to come.

Most of her eggs are a little lighter and have speckles, I’ll put a pic below (hers is all the way on the right). Those bright blues sure are stunning though, I’ll let you guys know if I have any success with it!
Sorry to hear about poor Lorena
