➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Mine were crowing 24/7 LITERALLY. None of them were eating just crowing, trying to hump everything, and pecking each other. Terrible creatures...
Apparently some colors are more docile than others. I have observed Manchurian gold and those boys were killers. I got rid of them right away. But I have a Tuxedo and he has behaved really well and now I have some other youth which are also calm.

I had/have pharaoh, pansy, charcoal, Tibetan, and German pastel boys. The least aggressive out of the 9 were the German pastel and the silver pharaoh. But I am trying to expand my celadon genes so I have to keep the most aggressive and 2nd least aggressive. Hopefully no scalping happens :fl

Yes ma'am, i always give them at least 2 days usually 3. Do u think brineing it wouldve helped the silkies?
i’m not really sure......it may have been that we didn’t rest long enough, it may have been not brining, or it may have just been part of the chosen recipe.....i will ask dh what he thinks.....(they were some of the first backyard butchering that we did)

Side note
I went out there a bit ago because I woke up remembering that I left the lid off the water bucket. Major hazard because I see at least one dumb male standing on it a day and I don't need anyone drowning. Luckily I had left the big 3ft level on it an no bodies were in it. But to my great joy the ultra flighty, scared Tibetan tux celadon hen was all snuggled into the dwarf willow pot. I've been putting her up there (maybe 12-14 inches high) to escape the aggressive male because she flies frantically from him. She's learningggg :clap

that’s amazing!! i’ve only hatched about a dozen or so chickens with the crazy high rate of males.......but i’ve hatched around 250-300 quail. my aviary quail flock is down to around 40 adults currently with about 75 more in brooders and grow-out cage.
I had to edit my post i am thinking i have two males in the brooder so that would make six males ive hatched out
