I have a mean snowie just like him! He chased all the birds around so much one day that they flew up and bonked their heads enough times to take the mesh screen off the top of the brooder, causing a mass jailbreak. :rant
I separated him from everyone as a “time out” until I broke them up into breeding groups but he didn’t mellow out until around 7 weeks of age... probably would have been off with his head if he wasn’t so pretty! :lau

None of my quail so far have been mean. None of the ones still alive.

Ahhh okay. Maybe he’s just an outlier then haha he does seem pretty young to be that mean anyway!!

I should also note I don’t just let my chickens beat each other up 24/7 :lau

Might have made it sound that way

They mostly get along now but when they were first establishing the pecking order it got pretty brutal at times. And when there is a favorite treat around they get crazy. Same with a prime dust bathing spot. :lau

Anyway, your guy definitely seems like a meanie then if quail aren’t usually mean to each other. He also seemed a little relentless with the chasing.

I say off with his head :lau

Oh wow that’s impressive they didn’t get hurt!

And yeah, I feel like sometimes birds go crazy at first establishing pecking order then chill. At least my chickens did. Idk if quail are the same. But even my little chicks were chest bumping each other and play fighting pretty young and still sometimes do. Nothing serious though, just trying to sort things out. This little guy seems a bit relentless.

I don't think mine is going to make it much longer.
I can't deal when the having to watch that.

Thank you. The huge one is actually a chick... You are the only one noticing :)
I set 10 Brahma eggs, only one was fertile and it hatched. I don't know what to do now, as the quail will all go to a customer in a day or two and the chick will be left alone. I don't have any other chicken (and never had before). I have another 15 chicken eggs that will hatch October 11th so there will be a 10 day period during which the Brahma chick will be alone and I don't know how to raise it... Also, can you sex a day-old chicken?

I was gonna say that is one huge quail!! LOL

Aw that stinks it’s alone. :(

I think it might be okay though temporarily? Or maybe you could sell it? Is the customer willing to take it too??

They are pretty easy to raise, just need food and water, a heat source, clean dry bedding just like quail.

I don’t think it’s possible to sex chicks that young unless they are sex linked breeds which of course Brahmas aren’t. You would have to wait until probably at least 8-12 weeks. It’s longer with chicks than it is with quail.
