➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Okay... wait a second...

I just noticed this post from a couple years ago. Apparently they already made an account at one point? Did they forget about it? :lau

What colour is this? I need it.
they look like rosetta to me. early on I didn’t understand difference between rosetta and tibetan.....i called my rosetta “laced betties” because similar coloration but rosetta has “lacing”

I can't take it anymore.
I think I am ready to vent sex.

Anyone want to take some fresh pics for me?
ok so while i still believe they are a bit too young to be 100% accurate vent sexing.....this is my recommendation if you want to try it!
examine the vent anatomy of a feather-sexable “known” male and female from same hatch and then compare to unknowns. i tried with a few of mine and all the “unknowns” i looked at appear to be hens at this stage compared to the “known” male

Sweet.
I didn't even think of this.
I might try it.
I can't make my mind up.

I'm scared to hurt them.

View attachment 1922937 Well I had one more hatch (assisted) it was pipped since yesterday morning and had made little progress it has severe scissor beak
i managed to keep a scissor beak almost to butcher size....(lost it in the raccoon attack).....if it can eat/drink should be fine!

I can finally see the difference in these two!
:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate
But I still don't know which is which color.

Also, can you sex a day-old chicken?
If you know what you are doing, large chicks can be vent sexed after the hatch. Auto sexing and sex linked chicks can be visually sexed once they are dry from hatching. Chicks from the proper lines can be feather sexed during the first three days but there are limited lines of chickens that can be feather sexed.

For the majority of people the simple answer is no, most chicks cannot be sexed until they are old enough to clearly display their male or female traits.
