Congratulations :claphope the rest come out soon! :fl
Good morning! Wasn't expecting a response from anybody. It's good to know somebody is out there. :)
We have 3. Still hoping for many more. :fl
I am now debating on working from home. I thought this would all happen after work and I would just stay up late to get them settled. I just turned on the geat lamp in the brooder - I want a mama heatjng pad but have not been able to justify the cost nor have I had time to rig up a DIY one.

They should be fine for up to 24 hours in the incubator without fijd or water right? I guess they could drink water from the wells under the grid floor of they wanted... Depending on the number of hatches I may move some to the brooder later this afternoon. I want them to geg on their feet and strech a bit before I go handling them. I also need time because my digital thermometer for the brooder decided not to work any more so I have to get a new one.

Check the temp in the bottom of the brooder. The thermometer should be reading 97-98°F. Most of them should be hatching within the next few hours, of course there will be stragglers. Just be patient.

I usually don't let mine stay in the bator over 12 hours, the longest being 18. Quail aren't like chickens, they will require nourishment sooner than 24 hrs.
You really need to get the temp in the brooder stabilized before you introduce the chicks to it.

It's worth it!! There are other heat plates out there with excellent reviews for less expense.

No midnight raves in the brooder, it's a place to hide if they're feeling scared. Also gets them used to a natural light cycle.

working on the brooder temp now.

I am loving the camera opportunities, but the incubator and camera struggle to get along. :barnie

I did get a cool video. It's a bit long, but it is the complete hatching process of one of the Texas A&M chicks from just after pipping to completely escaping the shell. My phone died just after the chick escaped the shell, so I'll upload it to youtube and post a link in a bit after my phone charges some.
