Check the temp in the bottom of the brooder. The thermometer should be reading 97-98°F. Most of them should be hatching within the next few hours, of course there will be stragglers. Just be patient.Good morning! Wasn't expecting a response from anybody. It's good to know somebody is out there.
We have 3. Still hoping for many more.
I am now debating on working from home. I thought this would all happen after work and I would just stay up late to get them settled. I just turned on the geat lamp in the brooder - I want a mama heatjng pad but have not been able to justify the cost nor have I had time to rig up a DIY one.
I usually don't let mine stay in the bator over 12 hours, the longest being 18. Quail aren't like chickens, they will require nourishment sooner than 24 hrs. They should be fine for up to 24 hours in the incubator without fijd or water right? I guess they could drink water from the wells under the grid floor of they wanted... Depending on the number of hatches I may move some to the brooder later this afternoon. I want them to geg on their feet and strech a bit before I go handling them. I also need time because my digital thermometer for the brooder decided not to work any more so I have to get a new one.
Of course it is 5am and there's nobody awake too assist me or join in the craze. Darn birds had to come early.

You really need to get the temp in he brooder stabilized before you introduce the chicks to it.
