➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

could I just put some food and water in the incubator then while I'm needing to adjust the brooder still. trying to get temp right by venting and adjusting heat lamp.

I would advise against food and water in the incubator. Move the chicks to the brooder and watch them closely. They will let you know if it’s too cold or too hot. Watch where they congregate. If they huddle directly under the heat, it’s not warm enough. If they move about and lay away from the heat, it’s may be too warm.

A few hours is ok...just don't leave them in there all day.

Agreed.

They don't have to be at 95 degrees in the brooder...if it's only 85 they will be fine. Just DO NOT overheat them.

Next time put some of this rubber stuff down on the floor/wire of the bator when you put them in lockdown.

I meant to this time. I knew I had some laying around. And then We couldn't find it when I was going into lockdown. It's in my basement somewhere. There's still several boxes down there from when we moved in 2 years ago...

We are at 16 chicks out of their eggs. There's a few more actively breaking out. The incubator is action packed. Chicks lounging, walking, climbing over eggs, eggs rocking, chicks pipping and cracking through eggs, chirping... wow! It's popcorn alright!
