➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I have 8 celadon out and 8 mixed out. Three of the mixed are still in the incubator, but 5 are under Grandma. I'm short a heat lamp right now because I have an injured button under it right now.

I set 15 corinex quail eggs. 2 hatched. 8 eggs contained fully developed but dead chicks. 5 eggs were infertile. I used a n incubator with automatic turner. The alarm for humidity set off constantly although the Govee humidity and temp Guage I put in there registered correct temp at 100 and high humidity between 70 and 90%.
My question is why did the chicks die in the shell? Could it be because the fluid in the shell was too much? I think they may have drowned in the fluid.
Any help will be appreciated.
Yes it sounds like your humidity was too high so the chicks basically drowned in shell. I don’t see your location....but typically 30-45% day 1-14 and 50-65% at lockdown thru hatch. It varies slightly based on location and ambient humidity.
Thanks. I have the incubator in an out building that gets over 100 degrees during the day so I will have to add water every day to keep up the humidity. I have read that the humidity doesn't matter so much until lockdown when I will keep it at 80% . Does that sound right?

The humidity does matter during the first 15 days. Keep your humidity down around 30% until you see an egg pip... Then raise it to about 50% and that's it.

You would have better results keeping your incubator indoors in a more stable temperature room.

Yes...they probably drowned in the egg because your humidity was too high.
