All will be well, and that will be well is well.
We were talking about supplemental lighting a while back. I happened across this (below) and though it’s about geese, I thought it might be something to consider with lighting quail and other birds. For geese, Holderread says as little as one hour’s reduction in 24 can severely curtail laying (and in males, fertility.) I’m guessing geese are more sensitive to this since they’re not so highly bred to lay, lay, lay, but something to consider all the same.
And here’s the reason I’m so interested in geese:
We stopped by Runnings for some mealworms and of course I had to look at the babies. My geese were there!!! They hadn’t called me yet; they were busy unloading all the babies. I saw my name on them and I just squealed like a little girl. I was SO excited, and I hardly ever get excited over anything, good or bad. I wish I did—it’s fun—but I’m just not that way. I was excited about these sweeties, though! They’re American Buff—three geese and a gander.

They’re . So . FLUFFY!!!
