➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Oh no muddy! Sorry to hear yours too :hit

My other 12 are great. Jumping around flapping their tiny wings :lau cracks me up so much!
so happy you had such a successful hatch!! they are such fun!! I have my brooder right here next to the couch this time to keep a close eye on the little boogers!! looks like i may have to bring more food in tomorrow....they’ve gone through almost a full cup!!

my little “froggie” seems to be getting stronger! can walk with hips straight now on the grippy surface......toes still curled so maybe try the tape booties tomorrow and see how he does. but at least he’s active and eating and drinking! of course I’m already thinking of my next hatch......trying to decide time frame and whether to go tuxedo assortment or sex link. will definitely use what I’ve learned from last couple hatches moving forward!!
How many can you house?

So excited, just went out to give my turkeys/chookies/quailies some afternoon cucumber (it's a hot day) -and we have our first quail egg!!!!! My mind is blown!! Extra crickets for quailes dinner tonight!!
Congrats! First eggs are very exciting! :celebrate

Going into lockdown!
As a reminder, eggs should be hatching Wednesday night.

I candled the eggs just a bit ago prepping for lockdown. There were 102 eggs off the original 104 - 1 broke when removing it from the packaging and 1 had a bad cracked shell from the egg turner. 62 (if I'm remembering my count correctly) passed the candling and made it to lockdown.

Here's some pics of my candling. I DIY'd a candler with a bright LED flashlight, duct tape and a sandpaper pad (provided a perfect sized hole). I couldn't get pics in the dark because the camera on my phone would go out of focus.
