My phone's little flash light works really good for quail eggs. I am surprised. I do have to get the egg to sit right up against it at just the right angle though.

Found out the favorite feed store stocks Purina Game Bird & Turkey Startena 30% for $22/50 pounds. That will be convenient.

Should I keep the layer quail on the 30% or blend it down with the 18% chicken feed to 24% protein for layer rations? Assuming the little guys don't pick through it and eat the best tasting stuff. Hmm.

I am horrible about wanting something I don't need.


So far yes I have been happy with my bator but now that I plan on hatching often I think investing in a set it and walk a way bator will be a good investment.

I'm taking my time researching.

I had no idea that they need adjustment. Mine fluctuates down to 99 and up to 101 but that's not unreasonable in my opinion.

I'll be hatching regularly though so I'm keeping an eye on what you end up doing and why.

I dont do anything special for lockdown.. just take the auto turner off, and add extra water.. (hmm maybe that's why I suck at hatching so much )

I did that with my quail, the eggs weren't in any particular order, some touching some not. I had a great hatch rate. What works for some might not for others

I think they doubled in size overnight lil froggie continues to improve! looks like I’m going to have some pansy,1 red range, 1 pearl, 1 silver schofield, 2 autumn amber and maybe some other color variation out of this batch! got hubby to watch some videos with me tonight and agree to my valentines hatch!! probably going with tuxedo assortment for that

YES! Valentine's Day hatch! You will set on the 26th also. I'll be setting 40 Kiki specials. A very rare and fine selection. The rooster is lucky. Hoping the gene carries on. Late bloomer to allow the hens to mature more.
