➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Tried to take a photo of curly feet. They are walking on the ankles airy feet curled inwards. Hard to see, and a bad fuzzy pic. Only the tuxedos that have these wacky feet (so I am going to assume genetic or nutritional problem)

I will give them another day or so before culling.. :hit:hit but I doubt anything miraculous will suddenly fix them :idunno
(I think it's easier to cull them now when they are so teeny tiny)

@Tayter93 I am sure they will be okay! As long as you have babies still pipping just try and sit back and let them do their thing!

@BullChick mine should start popping out around the same time as yours. I was not really expecting them to start going until Wednesday but I just peeked a look at one and it looks like the air cell is drawing down so maybe babies are in my future tomorrow instead :celebrate I didn't pull all the duds I thought I saw last time so there could be anywhere from 25 to 33 viable ones going still. My ten day olds are looking GREAT, 23/25 veiny and active.

curled toes are easy to fix, just put a bandaid on their feet like little shoes Cut the bandaid so you are using one flap and the little padded part and sandwich the toes straightened out. Only takes a day. They will kick them off and be fine.
Yep. Worked for mine too. I used masking tape for 2 days though.

It gets easier/better...I promise.
My first hatch I don't think I slept for days. I remember feeling like a zombie there for a few days.

LOL ME TOO!!! In fact I STILL sleep on my office floor on hatch nights LOL!! I had 9 in the brooder the other night and a few eggs still in the incubator and I slept on the floor on a pillow bed listening to peeps all night lol. I get up and check on them the first night to make sure they are ok and have water in their little bottle caps. At 6am I had 6 more going nuts in the incubator - I shined the light down and they all ran to the light and looked up at me yelling their little fuzzy heads off like GET US OUT NOW!

I went back to sleep for a bit and told them to dry off a bit more... lol by 9am there was 7 so I moved them, the last 4 were quitters.

On Sunday I took a quick nap and told my husband “I just had 16 babies I need a rest!!” :lau
