➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Huh. So, I think I hatched my own "dirty pearl/yellow snow". Wish I'd kept track of the parents on this one. It is probably from my silver tux male (same line as the shipped weird in-between golden pearls) x Italian female. He must be hiding some dilute genes.

"Normal" golden Italian siblings are to the left and directly above, the weird one is center front.

Who are you calling weird :old:old

Our babies look very similar last hatch Coturnix. I'm pretty excited about all the different colors!! Normal or weird :lau

Sorry, what I meant was: beautiful! Not a speck of gold in his adult feathers so far, we will see if that changes :fl Would be kind of hilarious if I got no clean pearls out of my giant custom batch of eggs and one randomly showed up in my own stock. I was like "meh, all those babies look the same, imma just mark down that I got a bunch of italians and be too lazy to sharpie their heads." What a fool I was!

Oh well, must breed everything again. :wee

my 30 pearl eggs arrived today!! trying to calculate logistics of staggered hatch without buying another incubator. If I hold the eggs for 7-10 days before setting do i turn them every 2-3 days?? my memory is a little foggy on that as I’m usually too impatient to not set immediately

I would try and get them in the incubator before 7-10 days from now, that amount of time + whatever it took to collect and ship them and I would expect pretty decreased hatch rates :/

I have also always been too impatient so I am not the one to answer your actual question

Can't you squeeze them all in somehow?
I too think waiting 7 days is a bit tooooooo long to wait.

Ahhhhhh muddy!!! The perils of hatching addiction :gig

I have the same problem :gig

I have been known to shove dozens of eggs into the space around the rotating trays temporarily

I can't believe the sheer volume of quail baby I now own. I have never had more than like 8 at a time before. I went in to say hello to my 35 this morning and I was like well, that can definitely be referred to as a quail horde now
