➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

before the rain today most of my quailies were sitting at the front fence and gate with 4 or so at a time climbing in between the chain link and chicken wire. They can see the grass and clover sprouting in the aviary and are dying to get in there and pick it clean!! If quail had lips I’d swear they were licking them!! :gig Hubby says I need to wait at least another week or so to make sure everything is growing good before I let them move in!! once it started raining, I had 2 or 3 quail that went into each coop...1 or 2 squeezed into each small hideaway and several in the big hideaway.

Also what are the best food/water setups for outdoor aviary? Was just gonna have a little marble dish for water but not sure if they will make a swamp of it
i’m probably just putting my gallon poultry waterers in for now. hubby supposed to add a covered feeding and dust bathing area. considering a birdbath/water feature in the center as long as I can find something that won’t cause accidental drownings. currently the mixed flock is emptying 2 gallon waterers plus using nipples. (and it’s not even hot yet)

Get a 5 gallon bucket with nipple or poultry cups. My quail use poultry cups without any problems.

How many birds do you have? I'm hoping for at least 10 :fl
A water feature sounds fun. I might try a wide plant saucer that's not too deep filled with pea gravel and/or marbles

Spring is finally here! Dogwoods are starting to bloom in Pollock pines! Was 82 in pville today.
PS Master Gardener El Dorado plant sale is tomorrow from 8am-2pm!

Oh my goodness. First the national rabbit show and now this. I wish I could go! :barnie

I guess I technically could but I'm literally about to drive through the area and the chances of me feeling like doing it again tomorrow are approximately zero.

Ogle so many plants for me!!!!

I helped setup. Soooo many plants. 950 tomatoes + everything elssse! Your lake level mgs might do one after the melt? I have no idea, running on fumes at this point. Gotta be there at 6:30 to help polish the finishing touches before the mob of people invades lol

Once this is done time for some major attention on my aviary site :yesss:
