Pic of hatch #1....through the lid is difficult to see well but looks to be a beautiful lavender color!!

These are from the SSC, right? That could definitely be a lavender! I think all of mine were kind of dusky powdery silver over the back as chicks.

I thought they were falb fee until I actually got some of those. The pictures of lavenders online are so varied looking they're kind of unhelpful.

I took a picture of some of the babies that are a week old while I was transferring them to the brooder in the shed. They’ve changed a lot. And I sold most of the tuxedos so there’s not that many left. Lots of red tints I see!

Here’s one of the other bucket but the orange from the bucket makes it hard to tell.

quail are sex-link....one of my silkie cross chicks is lavender! (actually 2 now!) the 3rd is yeller. looks like 2 boys and 1 girl in the quail so far. I’m having “popcorn” for breakfast!!

Still no quail eggs, but Duckling got to practice using the scissors (which was nerve wracking!) on my chocolate eggs.

@R2elk....I read in a thread on here that silkie cross can have sex-link traits? looks like all are silkie mom x buff orp dad. all 3 appear to have 4 toes, lavenders have black feet, yellow has yellow feet. These 3 look like crosses.....the one from last week looks more silkie.

Can't help you with that because I have no interest in Silkies so I have not bothered to learn anything about them other than they have vaulted skulls and can be vulnerable to hard pecks on the head.

Oh gotcha! He is a cutie! I am so grateful to you all for scratching my chick itch in between hatches.

Fun fact, it is actually the exact same gene in both, they hybridized them to prove it and got lavender babies first gen.
