Also, anyone ever ordered from Myshire? They have soooo many different varieties of quail. So many of them are so gorgeous. I really want to order from them eventually

Just found this thread and haven’t read it yet but skipped to the end and noticed all the celadon talk so wanted to say that a couple months ago I was researching that color too and I did find this place that also has them.

Those are the most expensive dozen of eggs I've seen but they claim 98% of hens hatched will lay blue.....hmmm

i’m on my 6th hatch from myshire. @CayugaJana and @dpenning have also hatched myshire eggs.

hello everybody! Please call me turk. I went 10 pages back and read forward.

I had been PMing Master Kiki about eggs cuz i thought i might buy some from her. Then i called Mr Robbie at JMF and

You see hes only an hr away and 50 eggs is 15$ for pickup

When i got there for 50 "unique collection" (limited myself after last time i saw him and set 100 when he doubled my order for a shipping mishap becuz thats a whole lotta babies to raise)

Someone had taken my order! Even locked up his lil pickup room! I had called him n he came over, n doubled my order again he says Hes sorry, the eggs were clearly labeled for me and i know how he does it, imo that lady had to of done it knowingly. Now hes gone and pulled these eggs for me tho and i can see theres 2) 50 egg flats. I felt bad i only had the 15$ that i owed him and next time ill def add a tip to his envelope when i pickup.

He told me on the phone he wasnt sure off hand whats avalible for my unique box but that he now has 55 varieties! I told told him i am at his whim, ima fool w them no matter which ones i get he knows i like the celadon(a note on your celadon discussion like CC said he will only sell lines that breed true so i know all of these will be blue layers) so he included those for me as well as def falb fee and red range. The falb fee are at the end of their laying prime, the fertility has started going down so thats why the extras 50 of em extras really nice guy, yest was the first time i actually met him in person and again he didn't disappoint

I am rebuilding after the gnats devastated my quail flock. Theyre in all the papers and on the news now. I feel like my quail went down quickest then a banty hen but no LF because i do have a decent enough set up and husbandry skills but the quail are small and most highly susceptible in the way their setups are as well as well. They donno what caused this blow up but those things have devastated livestock all over the place and in WY even Deer populations last yr! That flock of the quail was what i was restarting with after the human littlest turned 1 and her twin brothers turned 2. The quail were just over 2 months old, had just started laying at 7 and 8 wks, all JMF XL jumbos lost 41 to have 1 remainder.

Are they? I know nothing about quail so have no way of knowing if they are reasonable or not

But that does seem pretty high especially when you add the shipping! Ha

But yeah, if they all lay blue it might be worth it...

They seem like they have a lot of cool varieties I want to try but idk if itd be worth it. Was thinking of getting one of the assortments.

Nooooo!

That's why my birds are in trios for the most part even though everyone says more hens. More than 2-3 and my fertility goes down the drain (a problem when you are trying to regularly hatch from specific hens!). You might try just adjusting the sex ratio a little.



@el dorado quail Thank you! Do let us know what JMF says! If he's releasing the homozygous strain I'm all over that, but otherwise my next order's from KC just out of convenience.
