➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate

Is thAt bator warmed up and holding steady?
It was when I tested a couple weeks ago. I'm going to fire it up tonight and make sure that temp and humidity are nice and stable by the time the eggs arrive.
Then I'll let the eggs settle on my counter for a day before putting them in. That gives the incubator several days of running before I put the first egg in.

It’s Juneteenth. I don’t remember what that means, but I’m celebrating with a new pair of earrings from Kay’s. :celebrate
Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free.

Ok I'm going out on a limb here ...does anyone want Bobwhite/Mexican Speckled eggs. They will be mixed as that's what are being run together in the pen. Mexican Speckeled are a color mutation of the Bobwhite. Mine just started laying a week ago. I'm not going to be hatching any, so....there will only be a limited quanity, though, as not all the hens are laying.

Oh boy.
O boy.
I'm about to get myself in trouble.

I have to hop in now to say—babies are outside!

They're mostly sticking together for now, although a few brave ones have wandered off. Also a bit less shy—some are letting me pet them.

P6190189.jpg

This batch is much more intrepid than the last—nearly half of them have tried climbing the bark "slide."

First moments in the sunshine = instant nap.

Here's one I'm super excited about—hope they're a hen!

A blurry pic of an interesting bird. Wild type patterning, but silver coloration. Another one I've got my fingers crossed for.

They're loud and adventurous and messy and I'm hopelessly in love with them.

I refuse to be the crazy quail lady living next to the crazy cat lady. I do feel kinda special (ed) though.
You are special. :hugs I see that from here. As far as being the crazy lady, I think you are over qualified. :D Why would you want to specialize in quail? To be more special? :gig

Thx.

I'll quit hatching if I have the same problems again this time.
And I'm gonna hold my breath.

That didn't take long. :lau:lau:lau
