➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Don't do it! You will be added to the menagerie! All those horror movies about hoarders and their basements! Be warned!

That and the elves. Between the urchins and the elves you wouldn't get a moment of peace.

:lau Say "hi" to Santa for me!
I think I still have @Fire Ant Farm behind my fridge. Or maybe I'm behind hers? I can never remember.

You're not wrong there. Those elves never stop their clattering even in offseason.

Not many actual critters, but an awful lot of stuff for said critters. I have a chinchilla, a rabbit, a guinea pig, and a bunch of quail in the basement. Wait, two rabbits, at the moment. I also have all the incubators, all my hatching supplies, egg shipping supplies, spare crates, chick waterers, bird and goat medical supplies, and all my sewing and art supplies in there. The rest of the basement holds tools (not putting birds in there,) gardening supplies, bookshelves, food preserves, and the laundry room. Pretty packed, eh.

Oh wow that really is full!! Although for some reason I was imagining you had like a bunch of snakes and reptiles and fish and birds and rodents and stuff down there :lau

I wish I had all that cool stuff ha

I mostly just have way too much merch :lau

I’ve always wanted some rodents but my parents hate them and also I think I would be allergic haha or at least maybe couldn’t have it in the house.

I did have a rabbit once though.

I really want another rabbit as well as guinea pigs, gerbils, rats, mice, maybe a hamster. I used to want ferrets but they stink too bad and are such trouble makers lol then I also want a bunch of birds and reptiles and mammals. And of course different breeds of everything. A million dog breeds. I think I just want every animal there is. :lau

Cause I also want snakes (my parents hate them and rats/mice though so those are both out for now lol), bearded dragon, leopard gecko, maybe crested gecko (they don’t eat bugs which is a plus lol), turtle and/or tortoise, a fish tank or two with awesome fish in it, a goldfish/koi pond, parakeets, cockatiels, green cheek conure or Amazon or Quaker or one of the quieter parrots, African grey eventually but way too much work now, lineolated parakeet (linnies) or Bourkes parakeet as I hear they are both awesome and “better” than regular parakeets or a real English Budgie from a breeder as they’re supposed to be calmer than American parakeets too, of course practically every breed of chicken there is, and of course coturnix quail and maybe button quail, I think that about covers it for birds, reptiles, and fish.

Other mammals: goats, sheep, horses, maybe a cow or two, maybe pigs or a pet pig, of course more cats, a dog, preferably multiple dogs like 3-5 at least. Possibly also a whole sled dog team. :lau  I think that’s it. OH! And a bengal cat one day. :love so gorgeous and bad ass. :love

But my animal wants/goals and kind of life goals too are kind of conflicted and split into 3 categories: homesteading/farming (hence all the farm animals and want to have huge gardens and orchards and stuff some day too. I want a farm lol), dog training and wanting to have a million dogs and/or a training and/or boarding facility or daycare or something and do all sorts of dog stuff, including dog sledding or dog sports, and having cool and exotic pets. Can’t really do all three. :hit

I've had parakeets for years and years. Finally got out of them just a couple years ago... I kind of miss them. The pair I had at the time was composed of two absolute basket cases, but I'd have kept the supplies if I had been thinking ahead. Stupid me, thinking I could ever get rid of a type of bird for good.

Aww you should get them again!!!

Can i come live in your basement? Sounds perfect! :love

X2 although it doesn’t sound like there is room for a bed LOL

Also sorry, I got way random with the animal list... :lau should maybe move that. I can easily if needed lol

Only til fall, when it starts getn cold ima fly south

:lau

No, it's mine! Get your own.
I actually sleep down there too; the air conditioners I have aren't powerful enough to make the upstairs floor cool enough for my liking. In-ground basements are great year-round. Plus, no carpet, so no allergies.

Wow harsh! :lau jk

But wait... you SLEEP down there too!? I thought you kept the animals down there so they would be away from you lol where does everyone else sleep?

Very common practice here in Panama, and much sought after too.

Sounds awesome.

Are you sure? I have in-floor heating ;)

Wow you are living large!! Lol

:lau potentially true!! Note she only listed the cute, fuzzy animals? A little suspicious if you ask me.

I bet they’re cute though at least, right? :lau

Kinda like the Men in Black lockers? Who would want to live in a locker in a bus station?

Yeah but the locker is probably like the Tardis.... way bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside haha so it might not be so bad.

I keep them downstairs so that the dog doesn't eat them. I kept my rabbit in the living room pre-dogs. I've always been a barn rat, so I'm used to sleeping around critters. But now you can see why I want quail in the basement for as short of a time as possible. :sick At least I can put a wall between me and the smellier critters.
Brooding outside is my favourite way to do things.
