➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

3rd button hatching!! didn’t kill the entire hatch after all!! :fl:flfor more even if late!! #donthoverorAssist! hahaha i was wrong.....‘‘twas 4th hatch!! #3,4 both look male!! so maybe have to look t rehoming some!!

I took mine to a swap and they got alot of intrest two people who had taken my number called me later on and each time everything i wanted sold was taken.

Just sat long enough to tell yall I did a swap today and my quail were the best on the block. Out of 30 vendors! A Big swap. Ive been establishing myself at the small one that will be 5 mins from my house once the rebuild is done but Wow. This one was huge and would totally be worth the time getn to it. The moment i pulled up someone was scooping out my truck bed for the 6 extra wyandotte cockrels i had back there. Sold 9 birds and 5 doz eggs in total, in two hours, gave out abuncha cards but no sales on extra male quail. Wouldve probly sold more if i couldve stayed but yall know it, kids. Lots of intrest in the quail tho couldve probly sold 50 hens in that time if id had em. One guy even pulled out his tape measure on the quail eggs! :lau Several said they were the biggest cots theyd ever seen :) now ima go out there at 11 after a long day (after a long night the night before preparing) and behead all these quail that came home with me cuz i have to stay up waitin on the laundry anyway. By the time i get in bed ima be asleep on my feet. Pass me a yummy girly drink somebody.

My quail stopped laying! I haven't changed anything and the weather had been decent, 80-85 and mostly dry.

They all look ok. I did notice a few feathers in the coop party of their cage, not enough to make me think they are all molting though. Perhaps a few are molting. They are 7 or 8 months old. Theres 3 males and 12 females. They were breeding for the last few months. They have been laying very well up until recently. I was hoping to collect enough eggs to set another batch in the incubator in a few days after this current homegrown hatch, but I have only been able to collect 14 eggs: 12 on Monday and 2 on Thursday or Friday. The 3 ducks have been in the pond for the last few weeks, which is just a few feet from the quail cage. However, the cafe is 4 ft off the ground and the ducks don't fly. I also saw a mouse a week ago in that got in the cage to steal food. It probably visited a few times since then too since I haven't managed to catch it yet. None of them look ill. We feed them a blend of 2 parts Purina Game Bird mixed with 1 part Prince 40% protein poultry feed (nets us 27-28% protein). The feed has been that same mix since they were hatched.

Is it the darn mouse? Is it the ducks? Would they likely be molting? Is it something else all together you think?

Mind you I didn't realize because I was out of town Tuesday through Thursday and DW just assumed nothing was the matter and the birds were just being unproductive naturally.
That brings up another question: would they just naturally stop laying? They have only laid for 3 months or so. The buggers held out because too many males before.
