I vote big enough to fit a dirt box through.I need opinions... 1 or 2 doors on the front of a quail cage? Ideal dimensions for the doorway?
The cages I'm building are 4ft wide. I want to be able to reach everywhere in the cage, but I don't want a huge opening. I was going to put two doors in the front of each cage, but now I'm thinking catching birds will become a nightmare - I'll reach into the right side and they'll go to the left and vice versa. Perhaps a long, narrow door to minimize the area of the opening while improving my ability to reach everywhere from one opening? Thoughts?
You love you some dirt. LOL.I vote big enough to fit a dirt box through.
And two for sure.

Good luck. That's higher than I would go. Who knows though. Somebody might be willing to go just a bit higher. Otherwise, enjoy the rare colors.someone rescue me!!! 60 rare color assortment in the auction ending in 45 minutes and I couldn’t resist 32$ bidand i’m leading right now!!!
I am thinking the front will look something like this. 2 doors in the center 12" wide each and a fold down panel that I need to figure out. I am thinking thin plywood hinged along the bottom with a 1/2" ledge on 3 sides to prevent eggs from rolling off when is folded down and then a tether on each end to limit how far down it will fold.Alright, next problem. I wasn't going to have the eggs roll out of the cage because birds have escaped through a 1.5" tall opening on us in our existing cage. I did slope the floors though to roll the eggs to the front. Now I kind of want to add a roll out, but I'm thinking of a narrow panel the full length of the cage that we could fold down and the eggs would roll out onto it. Anybody have or seen something like this?
I'm soooooo tempted myself. My incubator only fits 48, though, so I hope I'm safe. I just sold my jumbo flock, so I have room, right?someone rescue me!!! 60 rare color assortment in the auction ending in 45 minutes and I couldn’t resist 32$ bidand i’m leading right now!!!
