➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I set 27 cots and 7 buttons last night. I have the 31 going into lockdown tonight --theyre due monday. I think theres enough hatching that i wont need to add water, just let them dry hatch. Yall will trip when i can get pics of how ive loaded these things down  these are out of my Lavander Manchurians pen and next collection starting today setting next thurs is going to be from the Pansy pen.
I want to see a picture of a lavender manchurian. When I do a search I end up with a bunch of pictures of other colors.

@mixedUPturk You may have a bunch of us begging you to sell us eggs!

I just said goodbye to all of my jumbos except for two roos. Those two are destined for the dinner plate when I can bring myself to do the deed. I took the birds to work to deliver them there and someone else said that they were interested in some birds. I only have six hens left! I told him that it would have to wait a while until I could hatch more.

Thank you for these articles! So, now.. I have a plastic lid/top on one of my incubators.. How do I get white and red light in it??? I could cut part of it and replace with glass and then put a white bulb outside to shine inside? How much white is white? I didn't see any lumens in the article.

I have a clear lid on my incubator but if I didn’t, and wanted to introduce light, I think I’d be looking for a short string of some battery-powered Christmas lights. (You can likely find them on Amazon any time of year.) I would fasten them into the lid by making u-shaped “staples” of wire just stiff enough to be poked through the lid and tied or bent over on the outside.

You can get away with opening the incubator periodically if you need to do that to turn off the lights at night. Plenty of curious folks (Kiki!) candle every day or even more.

I am definitely building something like this. I would like to be able to fill it outside the cage, but that's not absolutely necessary since I have a 24"x10" opening if I open both doors. It should be fairly easy to remove, fill and replace 3 feeders.
I didn’t re-watch the video but if I remember right he has the tube extend through the cage ceiling. Of course he has only one tier of cages, but maybe you could fill the top cage feeder from outside if you wanted to.

I would not add lights to the inside of a commercial incubator. It could mess with the thermostat.

I had no problem with hatching in my cabinet incubator that was composed of solid wood. I did not notice an improvement in the hatches after I cut out part of the door and replaced it with clear plastic. It did make it easier on me to be able to see what was going on inside the incubator without opening the door.

Dang. There's only been one bid on the current auction. Good thing I have absolutely no need for 120 eggs. $50 for the lot is a very good price. If I had room, it would be oh, so, easy to bid $52.

Edit: There's only 19 minutes left, @muddy75 !

He has two tube extending through the lud of a container. He removes the entire feeder though to fill it. The tubes just increase the volume. Extending through the top would be nice for a single cage. We actually did that with our PVC waterer with poultry cups in the outdoor quail cage.
