it is frustrating when you get too many hormonal males molesting everyone in the pen!!I'm soooo annoyed with these males. They chased a hen so much today she wedged her body into the feeder, got her wings and legs pinned, and broke her neck struggling to free herself. Like I almost pulled all their heads off when I finally found her. I thought she had escaped somehow. Nope. Stupid little a**holes. She was the hen CC gave me to recondition into not being a murder quail and was doing so well.
Tomorrow they are getting a shitty cage thing I will build out of sketchy wood. Or the chop.
i released some newbies from the grow-out cage today and luckily most figured out they could jump up in the dustbath area to escape the craziness!! i would probably choose to butcher them unless you just want to grow them out longer. it’s probably quicker than building a separate cage and will also be good practice!!
there are some pips and when i candled last night, was only two eggs pulled, 29 locked down, six with internals and that one guy was already externaled.
