Hmm. You've got 3. I've got 1.5. Just the head is out so far. Looks like #3 is zipping on bottom. Couple of pips. I don't think any are coming out tonight. Should get the flock out tomorrow though.

What is your humidity? I put some water in mine and it hit 50% and is sitting there for 2 days. Little higher than I wanted, but they are hatching. :wee

I candled my lav man set last night and had to pull 13(!) Clears and 2 early quitters. Im mad at my lav man roo i think he has a pair of fav girls as the eggs that are developing obviously came from the same two hens. After the kids upended the incubator i didnt have high hopes but :he also pulled 2 mid quitting buttons :barnie only leaves two. I considered tossing them rather than end up w a lone button but i guess what it Really means is i should incubate some More buttons. Also i decided im gonna bring the buttons in over the winter.
I had 1/16 lavman eggs develop. The rest were clear/dried up/rotten...please pray the one is a girl!!!

I think that's the part I'm going to have the hardest time with. It may be hard for me to get the skin off too. Once that's done and it looks like meat, I'll have an easier time with it, I think.

I remember the first time I prepared a turkey I had a hard time because it was so obviously a dead bird, but I got used to it. I guess that means I can get used to processing a quail too.
I can bring my new choppy shears @CoturnixComplex got me when I come for the workshop if you want

I feel kinda callous about the whole thing like @BReeder! Said earlier. Banty and i had just had this conversation a few wks ago. The first few birds in general that i processed i got half way thru and cried and wanted to put em all back together  but that was years ago now. I still dont have the gonads to do a duck or turkey(my used to be fav types of poultry.) I feel like the quail are the best place to start because its harder to get attached to these tiny things that mostly look the same.
