So i have an ovascope egg candler will that be good enough to see through the eggs to see which ones are fertile?

As long as it blocks extra light from shining around the egg it should be good.

4 cages inmates as follows
#1 4 Pansys (3F/1M 1st egg todat))
#2 4 Pansys (3F/1M I think)
#3 3 homegrowns (3F-all laying)
#4 21 babies


I practice subtraction so I don't really have that many.

I still haven't decided on how many of the babies I will keep.

I will have to build or buy more cages this week to grow the babies out.

What are exactly homegrowns? are they ones that hatched out of eggs that you collected from your own birds?

Pretty much yes.
My very first quail.
These were the last eggs I set of theirs before I butchered them.

There are a few of us here that all have or had the same starting stock.

have you considered adding your homegrown girls to the pansy cages? that probably wouldn’t overload and would free up some cage space for babies.

Oh wow that’s way less than I would’ve thought! But you do practice a lot of subtraction

I would say keep them all but I know that’s quite unrealistic.

And you are going to need a lot
