➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I just got home from the lovely dentist office.
My power is out. :barnie

The power company says they are working on getting it back up and they should have it fixed within the next few hours.

I am not worried yet but I feel the worrying coming on.

After what happened to you last time, I’d be worried, too. Maybe you should get that generator set up one of these days. :lau Didn’t you say you had one? We have a whole house one (allegedly—in reality it only runs a few outlets and the refrigerator & well pump—which is way better than nothing). We have an emergency one that we bought before we moved... it’s still in its box... lot of good that did us. When we needed it, it was too hard to set up in 4’ off snow and driving winds and below zero. I want to sell or donate it. DH says no, we might need it. :gigIf we do, we won’t be able to use it. You gotta get it set up *before* you need it.

I'm going get the small generator out of the garage now.
I have NO CLUE how to even start it up.
I'm going to have to wake the Mex up.

Do I leave this here and just pull the lawn mover string thing?

First check if there is a shut off valve on the gas line. If so, turn it open. Set the choke button to choke for the first pull or two and if the generator starts, slowly move it to the arrow.

The choke will give it extra fuel until it warms up. Usually you use it when it's cold. If you use it when you first start it up, turn it off after a few minutes. (I learned this from my years riding a motorcycle)
I can't get it to start.

I'm going wake him.

The choke button reduces the amount of air to the carburetor to make it easier to start in the cold or when it hasn't been run for a long time. You do get a higher fuel to air ratio.
